Today in honour of the MP Jo Cox we celebrated our Great Get Together-Permission to Party—-and what a party it was!! Over 150 local residents came to Nechells POD to celebrate having more in common. In such a diverse community it was fantastic to see everyone enjoying each other’s company and sharing stories over a cup of tea and cake. The children had a fabulous time getting creative with Fiona, having their faces painted by Rhea and being sporty with the Active Wellbeing Society, Hema and Myles.
Thanks so much to them all for providing such fun activities. We were particularly pleased that Jack, our volunteer , acted as security for us and made sure everyone was safely welcomed into the event. We were also joined by Jessie from the Great Get Together office in London and she was very impressed by how our community came together to celebrate Jo’s legacy by discovering how true her words were ‘we have more in common than things that divide us’.
