The Annual Nechells Zone Games took place today at the Alexander Stadium. Almost 1000 pupils, parents and staff came together for a fantastic day of sports and activities. The medals, cups and ice creams were all sponsored by a generous donation of £1,000 by Homebase through our Ladywood Business in the Community Connector Simon Jennings. The cheque, medals and cups were presented by Graham Heald, Retail and Distribution Director for Homebase. Simon also organised a team of volunteers for DWP to help with the day. The six activity zones were organised by Stuart Bates and a team from Active Parks.
The games were won by St Vincent’s Catholic Primary for the fourth year running, closely followed by Nechells EACT Primary, St Clement’s Academy, Cromwell Primary, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary and Bloomsbury Nursery and Children’s Centre. The track and field events were organised and supported by staff and pupils from Heartland EACT Academy and POD staff. We would like to say a special thank you Mr Goldsworthy from Cromwell for doing such a great job with keeping a tally on the scores for the day.
