We had an amazing turn out at our World Culture Day celebration today. It was nice to see all the community come together to celebrate all the different cultures, while getting the chance to learn more about everyone’s ethnic background.
The community all sat around and joined in with stories from all around the world with Adele the librarian, with others getting the chance to have beauty treatments from UCB students. We even enjoyed a sing song with people from different countries singing their favourite songs in their home language. We were then treated to some lovely food such as samosas, pizza, crisps and even some homemade Somalian pastries which were very delicious. We also had members from our sewing class show their handmade flags, which they made yesterday in their sewing class.
To end our World Culture Day we all got involved in a quiz to see who could name the most flags of the world. Keri one of our very knowledgeable ESOL teachers won the quiz and got the star prize which was a box of Ferrero Rocher.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and to everyone who helped make today a fantastic celebration.
