Yesterday evening was the 9th Annual Chamberlain Awards Ceremony, this prestigious event was hosted by Councillor Muhammad Afzal at the ICC. The event was a spectacular evening sponsored by a wide range of companies who all made this an unforgettable evening for everyone attending.
Zenia was accompanied by Danny Delaney, who submitted her nomination, her husband Graham and her line manager Noran. The evening started with a drinks reception, then we moved to the main hall which was decorated with a fantastic array of lights and beautiful flowers. the BCC entry for The Choir: Sing While You Work sang a wonderful medley of songs, before Shaun Williamson ‘Barry’ from EastEnders compared the first part of the awards ceremony. There was a fantastic menu for the evening dinner provided by Civic Catering and they even catered for Zenia’s cheese phobia with a lovely fruit starter. For the main course we all chose the lamb which was absolutely delicious. The awards then continued and there was lots of cheering and celebrating for all the finalists and winners. There was another break for dessert and coffee or in our case a lovely cup of tea and then the awards continued, at nearly 11pm the final category for local hero sponsored by Turner and Townsend was announced, there was very strong competition and a lot of support for all the nominations and a look of complete shock on Zenia’s face when she was announced as the winner! Zenia said: “The walk to the stage seemed to take for ever, I didn’t expect to win so it was a fantastic surprise, I feel really proud of all the FiNs they are such a wonderful group of individuals and I would like to thank them all and especially Danny for submitting the nomination, it is a great honour to be appreciated and recognised for trying to make a difference in people’s lives, I will treasure this award for ever.”
Everyone at the POD would like to thank Lucy Cross and her team and Kate Beatty for the great write up and photo shoot they did when they visited us at the POD and we hope to welcome the Lord Mayor – Councillor Mike Leddy, Stephen Hughes and all the BCC Councillors to the POD in the near future. Thank you all for a wonderful evening!
