Nechells EAZ ran a Space Themed Numeracy Event which St Joseph’s school very kindly hosted. Year 10 students from Heartlands Academy helped with the Maths Challenges and were a real credit to themeselves and great ambassadors for their school. Pupils in years 2, 3, 5 and 6 from Nechells, St Vincent’s, St Clement’s and St Joseph’s schools all took part in this exciting event, here is what one of the teachers sent us by email after the event.
“I just thought I would take time out to email you and congratulate you on the smooth running of the maths workshops on Tuesday for Y5/Y6 children. The children thoroughy enjoyed it and it was great to see them using their higher order thinking skills in a variety of ways. My year 5 and 6 children were so excited that they had to compete against other schools and thrived on completing challenges and gaining stars. As you can imagine they were very thrilled they won. Congratulations also to Ian and his wife for the fun activities based around space. I will certainly be looking at intoducing some of the ideas when teaching maths. It’s fun to use practical activities. The students from Heartlands were very proactive and polite too. An excellent day Noran!” Mary Harris (St Clement’s Cof E Academy)
