We had the Christmas Community Lunch today, over 60 people including local residents, Aston fire station green watch fire fighters, volunteers from Food Bank, St Matthew’s and St Joseph’s churches and our star guest Tom Ross from Free Radio. Some of our FiNs met Tom when they won the Birmingham Mail Community Project of the Year at the beginning of November and were delighted that Tom could spare the time to come and meet the rest of the group at the POD. Mary had made one of her brilliant teddies in his likeness and this was presented to Tom during the meal.
Everyone enjoyed the food and the company and we had a special visit from Santa who drew the raffle numbers and congratulated each of the winners when they had chosen their prize.
We were also honoured that Pam, Craig’s Mum was also able to come and join the celebrations, Pam took a quiet moment before the lunch started to place a beautiful star in memory of Craig on his memorial tree. We will all be thinking of Craig’s family and friends at this special time of year.
