We had a wonderful afternoon at the House of Lords, we had our photographs taken for our security passes when we arrived and then waited for the other award winners from accross the country to arrive. We were not allowed to take photographs but Aidan The Jubilee Centre for Character and Values Manager was the official photographer and these have now been included in the Gallary, We were shown onto the terrace over looking the river Thames for a champagne reception followed by a spectacular afternoon tea with delicate sandwiches, wonderful scones with straberry jam and delicious clotted cream and the most exquisite little cakes.
There was a special surprise awaiting Noran during the awards ceremony. There were over 100 nominations for this first year of Jubilee Awards For Service, there were 11 award winners and one overall winner – Noran! The award was presented by Lord Watson of Richmond. It was such a wonderful honour to be with so many people who have been recognised for their outstanding service in the public sector.
Following the ceremony we walked over to the exclusive Athenaeum Club in Pall Mall, for more champagne and a wonderful evening meal which was absolutely delicious. It really was a day to be treasured and remembered for many years to come. The award means so much to Noran, the POD staff, the schools that we work with and the whole community that we serve in Nechells. Today Noran shared her special day experience with all children in the DREAMS holiday programme, so the sunshine, seashells, starfish and sandcastles knew all about the wonderful day!
Thank you everyone who was involved with making the day so special especially to Adien, Jenny and Laura for all their hard work organising such a wonderful event.
