What a busy half term at Nechells POD, we managed to work in partnership with multiple organisations to provide community activities for Nechells residents.
Bring it on Brum, Community Fun Day
On Monday 20th February we welcomed over 200 people into The POD for our Bring it on Brum Taster Day! We had pizza wrap-making workshops with the wonderful Lil’s Parlour, we celebrated National Love Your Pet Day by turning paper plates into pets, we gave out packed lunches to all the children and had a guest from Family Action offering welfare support. We also had the Active Wellbeing Society entertain the children and families with various outdoor games and sports activities for everyone to enjoy.
Knitting Group
On Tuesday 21st February One of the lovely POD Volunteers held a knitting session for children. during the group session, the class learnt the basics of knitting and at the end of the class, they were all given the knitting materials to continue their practice at home.
FiNs Family & Friends Lunch
On Wednesday 22nd February afternoon was well spent with the Friends in Nechells group and some of their families. We all came together to enjoy a tasty spread of food, sat down for a chat and then we got competitive with a team quiz. Thank you all for joining us today and for the community donations that made the event possible.
Family Trip to Coventry
On Thursday 23rd February the POD organised a day trip to Coventry city centre. POD staff and families from the Nechells area had a great time exploring the city we were amazed by the beautiful architecture of the Coventry cathedrals. We were taken back by the art in Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, the children particularly enjoyed seeing the dippy Dinosaur Display, and also we enjoyed exploring the shops and parks.
