What a fabulous morning we had at The POD! The whole community came together to design the decoration for our bears. Noran explained the theme. We are basing our design on being neighbourly, being kind, respectful and tolerant and celebrating friendship-everything that knits the Nechells community together.. Claire , our artist, ran workshops to help everyone develop their ideas and Adele, our librarian, inspired everyone with exciting stories on a bear theme. We were also joined by Sue Ball, our chair of trustees, Becky Cresswell from Wild in Art and most importantly our friendly Irish wolfhound, Fergal. We had a fantastic time being creative, listening to stories and enjoying our teddy bears picnic. We even named our big bear – PODDINGTON ! So we now have our baby bear, Rory, who was donated by Gowling WLG and our big bear Poddington, funded through Near Neighbours and Bloomsbury Nursery and Childrens Centre. All the children went home with an Easter egg which had been kindly donated by employees from Smurfit Kappa. Claire has gone away to put our ideas together as a final design to dress our bears. We can’t wait to see them beautifully decorate. Poddington and Rory will be the best bears in Birmingham!
