On Thursday 2nd March 2017 and Friday 3rd March 2017 children from St Joseph’s school and Nechells academy enjoyed maths challenges – learning in a fun and interactive way. The focus was learning together through maths challenged which were based on a theme, either pirates, Ancient Egyptians or space. Mr and Mrs Teffer had worked hard to set up the activities and year 7 students from Heartlands were very supportive in taking responsibility for each challenge area.
Everyone had a great time and there were winning teams from both schools. However everyone was a winner because the activities encouraged the children to be enthusiastic about maths, everyone learnt to work well as a team – to be cooperative, encouraging and respectful. Staff and pupils said what an amazing time they had and how much they had learned.
So the message to everyone is:
Maths is fun!
