Celebration Event at Nechells POD
Saturday 11am- 1pm Saturday 30th July 2016
We have had great fun this week with children from Cromwell and St Joseph’s schools. They have been preparing for our POD Celebration and Book Launch. Earlier this year a group of elders from the community wrote a book about what it was like growing up in Nechells and all the fun they experienced. We have now had this book printed and we will launch it during the POD Celebration on Saturday 30 July.
The children have been learning performances that will reflect the stories of the elders and really bring the stories to life. We have also used the information that Spiltmilk collected during the past six months when they visited The POD and spoke to Nechells residents about what they love. The performances are a real celebration of Nechells past and present and what Nechells residents have told us about their lives.
The children have worked really hard and we are very proud of them.
The elders and other Nechells residents will be joining us for the Celebration and Book Launch. We will be sitting outside so if you are coming along please make sure that you wear warm clothing.
We hope to start at 11 am and there will be refreshments available at the end of the celebration.
