The Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council – Stephen Hughes visited the POD today to find out more about the exciting work that we do in Nechells. We sent the invitation for the visit after meeting the Chief Executive at the Chamberlain Awards Ceremony in November and we were very lucky that Stephen found time to visit the POD before he retires at the end of February 2014.
The POD was a hive of activity with the parent and child language group, adult learning maths course and the BRAG (Bullying Reduction Action Group) running sessions. During the morning Stephen had the opportunity to meet with members of the local community, some of our partner organisations and zone headteachers. There was lots of diccussion about life in Nechells and the vital work carried out at the POD to improve the lives of the Nechells community. Stephen was very impressed with everything he saw and POD users and partners were able to advocate for the importance of the continuation of the POD.
