FiN Trip to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter
Tue, 7th May 13 at 4:30pm
We had a fantastic trip to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter this morning, the weather was wonderful and we learnt all about the history of the jewellery quarter which is so close to Nechells. We would like to thank Oliver Buckley and his team for the brilliant tour of the Smith and Pepper factory and for making us all so welcome, the tea and biscuits at the end of the tour went down a treat! We are all looking forward to Oliver returning to the POD to tell us more about the history of Birmingham and to give our FiN's the opportunity to feed back on what it was like to work and live in Birmingham to help the research that Oliver is undertaking. We also had the opportunity to meet with Cathy Miles and Miranda Sharpe who are two of the three artists who are currently exhibiting in the gallery at the museum. It was very interesting to see the new work and techniques used by modern jewellers and artists.
